Lilly Pulitzer Home

It is official! We are moving! Not far really, just down the way from our current place. Same neighborhood, same route home. We are down sizing to a one bedroom apartment instead of a two bedroom. New canvas to work on!

How exciting that Lilly Pulitzer has come out with this gorgeous collection! It's Palm Beach, it's the 60's, it's pure happiness!

Now that I don't have that spare room, I finally find my dream writing desk!!! Why now? I am in LOVE with this Aster desk! It is completely perfect!

I love the lacquer, the brass accents, the clean sleek lines... Beautiful.

Lilly Pulitzer has some great taste! Colorful and cheery. These are some great summer fashion pieces from her fashion collection.

She also has a great Stationary/Accessory line that is soo fun!

Happy hot summer days! Enjoy the sun!

Dwell on Design 2011

So this weekend was the Dwell on Design at the Los Angeles Convention Center, which is an expo that focuses on residential design. They had some really great vendors with beautiful displays. I definitely got inspired by the creativity.

Molo Design had a great installation at their booth! Definitely one of my favorites. They used their softwall + softblock modular wall system to create this surreal setting. Love the lights! Check out how they installed this set.

Mafi has a great product! It's not just hardwood flooring, it now has more texture, pattern, and character. Check them out! Highly recommended. The pictures do not do it justice...

Joe Cariati glass blown beauties! You can not go wrong with these in your home, office, or any space. Love...

Beautifully displayed David Trubridge lights. So many colors to choose from.

OMG. I cannot express how gorgeous these wallcoverings are. There are quartz, glass beads, and glittered wallpaper by Astek Inc. They also do a lot of custom orders and are located in Los Angles!

John Dufficy, original and complex furniture is stunning.

I am so into acrylic and colors and HStudio has some really great items for my fix. They have a great sculpture and furniture line.

Now in case you were thinking of raising your own chickens, this is the best home for your chicks! Chicken Co-Op has some awesome luxury chicken residences.

Don't forget about Dwell on Design next year! Have a great day!

R.M.Schindler House

The second house on my school tour was the Schindler house in Los Angeles. R. M. Schindler was born in Vienna and moved to Chicago to work under Frank Lloyd Wright. He oversaw the Hollyhock house project and started designing his own work in LA.

He wanted the home to feel as though you were camping. The living and dining area are located outside with outdoor fireplaces for cooking. They slept outside on top of the home and the studios were inside. Of course if it rained, they would sleep in their studios.

The home is surrounded by bamboo trees all around which provided privacy.

The areas played off of each other having canvas walls which open up to the spaces indoor and or outdoor. The home had an asian vibe with the exposed beams, concrete, bamboo, and canvas sliding doors.

Check the Schindler House for yourself!!!

Frank Lloyd Wright

Hollyhock House was originally designed by Frank Lloyd Wright and it is located in East Hollywood, California.  I had the privilege of visiting this wonderful home this weekend during a tour with my school. It was a great tour as our tour guide was very knowledgeable and entertaining.

Hollyhocks were all over the property in real life as flowers and in interpretation in this concrete sculpture. This design concept is noticed throughout the house.

Can you imagine how much Aline Barnsdall enjoyed sitting out side overlooking the view on top of the hill?

Stunning living room with a stunning fireplace. The design on the fireplace is actually the foot print of the house, showing the reflecting pool and the round pool on opposite ends with Aline overlooking the home.

Aline's bedroom with a drop down for her bed.

Beautiful fireplace in her bedroom.

Her bedroom balcony.

One of the amazing rooftop terraces.

The round pool outside.

Sugartop's playroom.

So much detail, even the light fixtures have the hollyhock concept.

Next time you are in LA make sure to check out Hollyhock!
